Mad about Scrappin September Challenge

Hi All

Lou, back again to share some Mad about Scrappin Facebook challenge inspiration with you.
This month we have been given a fantastic sketch to work with by team member Tamara,

Now, if you have seen my previous months samples then you know that I tend to work with only one photo per layout.  So this sketch was a challenge for me but I embraced it and I am happy with the end result.
I have been holding onto a series of photos of my eldest daughter from last year, they were of her performing in a classroom drama of "3 Billy Goats Gruff"  These photos were the ultimate challenge, school uniform navy with a bright green background but you know what I was able to match these photos to some papers from Jillibean Soup I picked up in a Flog it Friday sale.

When I looked at the sketch I really wanted to use a different element with the two half moons. So I grabbed my watercolour pencils and one of my stencils and started to colour in... What FUN!!! I just added water then a black pen outline to create these multi-colour chevrons. I finished them off with some black ink drops and a couple of the stickers from the sticker sheet.

I added the title straight from the die cut sheet as it fitted perfectly with the page

and as luck would have it, there was a series of tickets in the die cut sheet as well.

I hope this gives you some further inspiration to complete the challenge this month, entries need to be uploaded by the 25th of September to our Facebook page Mad about Scrappin

Now go grab those watercolour pencils I know you have and get creative :D

Mad about Scrappin's June Challenge

Hi All

Lou here to show you how easy this months Mad about Scrappin Challenge really is...

1. Use a word for happiness, well lets go to the thesaurus for this.

Happiness can be
beatitude, blessedness, bliss, cheer, cheerfulness, cheeriness, content, contentment, delectation, delight, delirium, ecstasy, elation, enchantment, enjoyment, euphoria, exhilaration, exuberance, felicity, gaiety, geniality, gladness, glee, good cheer, good humor, good spirits, hilarity, hopefulness, joviality, joy, jubilation, laughter, lightheartedness, merriment, mirth, optimism, paradise, peace of mind, playfulness, pleasure, prosperity, rejoicing, sanctity, seventh heaven, vivacity, well-being.

I used the word delight (tick)
2. Next use an altered embellishment,
this can be as simple as changing the colour of your alphas which I did (tick)

As you can see these alphas are a green/black colour but I wanted a solid black for my title, so hey pesto I grabbed one of my black pens and went colouring.
3. Last criteria, use a frame of some sort (tick)

I used a Polaroid frame from Kaisercraft and I altered this by adding some arrow stickers to it.

I also altered the main glitter alphas in my title by adhering them to black cardstock then cutting them out before placing them on my page for further oomph
The papers I have used on this page are from Summer Stories range from Teresa Collins, lots of gold glitter which is very trendy at the moment. I purchased these from Mad about Scrappin Here.
Here is my page in full showcasing the June Facebook Challenge,

I added some epoxy stickers from Heidi Swapp, and used some embellies from Freckled Fawn.

Make sure you give this super easy challenge a go and link it to the Mad about Scrappin Facebook pageso you can be in with a chance to win this month.

May Challenge for Mad about Scrappin

Hi all

Here is this months Facebook Challenge for Mad about Scrappin

This month, required me to put my thinking cap on... Wings, colour and a B&W photo and use of a template or stencil.  But all of this was put at ease when I remembered that I had this lovely piece of paper from My Minds Eye, which Mad about Scrappin has available Here

I firstly created a masked circle toward the right hand side of the page with Antique Linen and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks, then I added further template work with the Random Hexagon 6 x 6 template from WOW with Raspberry Pie Fluid Chalk Ink from Prima, which I purchased a Flog it Friday, this matched perfectly with the paper colours. The great thing about this paper is that it features some gorgeous little bumble bees and took care of my wings element straight away.

I added some extra height by fussy cutting part of the rose from the coordinating paper  and mounting with foam tape. I then die cut some matching hexagons from the loveliness mix of papers of this range.

I have had these Alphas for such a long time and never used them, but I got them from Mad about Scrappin a couple of years ago and they were just perfect for the title 'Big Prep Girl' I still can not believe that my baby is at school.

I lastly used my B&W photo on the handcrafted tag as a design element in the far bottom right hand    corner, which drew your eye from top left to bottom right hand corner which makes the page flow.

Here is the page in its full glory :)

Echo Park 'Everyday Eclectic'

Back today with two different pages I made with the new Echo Park range
'Everyday Eclectic', the first one is

Daphne's New Glasses

As soon as I ripped into the packet from Mad about Scrappin, I feel in love with this patterned multi colour chevron paper and I wanted to create a fun page to show its full potential.  The first thing I did was grab my 'old' school Heidi Swapp mask and create the circle with ink, as well as using some hessian as a mask to spot highlight some texture.

Once this was dry I used the new crackle texture stamp from Kaisercraft (again from Mad about Scrappin) for added interest around the edge of the paper. I had purchased previously from D-Lish Scraps a sweet washi with black cameras on it and this went perfectly, so I used this randomly on the edges.

I also created some paint splatters with my paint dabber with the ranger adirondack dabber in cranberry. It's such an easy technique but so effective and striking when used. Just search for paint splatter on YouTube and you should be able to find a video.

I finished the page with a numerous of the stickers from the accompanying sticker sheet.
My second page, was a quick one I started at a crop, titled

A Wee little bit of SWEETNESS for my girls

Here is another page I have created from this yummy range from Echo Park, but this time I wanted to keep it simple and focus on the photo of my girls at Lollipopland.  A magical kingdom close to the North Pole of course ;).

My gorgeous friend Renee Iveson leant me a cute border punch of people holding hands, perfect for this page. I punched this out and stuck it down with the patterned hexagon paper, I then added lots of elements from the sticker sheet as well as arrow chipboard mistables from Pink Paislee....

I also added a MDF camera from WOW, love these And the sticker stars are super cute too.

I finished off the page with highlights of colour using a mask to get the ink splatters without the risk of the splatters, just ink...Hope you have enjoyed these two pages, using the same paper but with vastly different results :)

Mad about Scrappin First Eva Blog Hop

Welcome to
Lou's Scrapping Desk
the next stop on the Mad about Scrappin Blog Hop Journey

You should of arrived from Renee Iveson's Blog, if you haven't then you may need to go back to the beginning and start again from the Mad about Scrappin Blog

My Name is Louise or Lou to my friends, and I like to get inky...

I started this Scrapping Journey over 8 years ago now, around the time I was planning my wedding and creating my daughters baby album, which I had been given as a present at my Baby shower.  I was hooked from the word go...  I searched out and found anything I could scrapping related, stickers, papers, and ribbons.  I quickly took over the dining room table which was a blessing as my hubby soon purchased a massive desk for me and moved me to the garage, and I still have that desk to this day.

I have not stopped creating since then, my main source of inspiration is of course my two daughters, Daphne nearly 8 and my 'baby' Olivia who is 5.  I also like to terrorise my hubby for photo's as well, one of my projects at the moment is to scrap his journey through open heart surgery which he underwent last year to repair and replace his aortic root and valve.  It has been a long recovery but in the end it has brought us closer together, I must say scrapping the bad times can be very therapeutic. I won't say cheaper then therapy as I reckon that might be cheaper then the scrapping LOL....

I don't have a style of scrapbooking, I have slowly started to add more artistic elements to my pages, love getting dirty hands.  I have created shabby, clean, vintage and grungy at different times. The only constant with my style is that I like to stick to the traditional 12 x 12 page (the perfect size in my humble opinion)

I am offering some yummy Blog Candy on this stop on the Hop...
Say that three times quickly in a row...

I will also post this to you at no cost as well, but this will only apply to Australian residents.  Everything in this picture above is included in this prize, all you need to do is leave me a comment and become a follower of my Blog to be in the running for some vintage yummies.

As promised on my last post I have created a brand new product featuring some of the current goodies from Mad about Scrappin.  My page is titled

Oh Snap

Not very creative I know, it's the title of the range from Echo Park, one of their mini kits they have released this year.  I picked this up during the last Mad about Scrappin's Flog it Friday sale on Facebook, at the bargain price of $7.50... How could you not get it when it is full of funky camera images, film strips and triangle patterns.  This complimented one of my other purchases the Studio Calico Triangle Mask, oh and the Maya Road assorted ephemera which I picked up as well.

Hi my name is Lou and I have an Addiction.... I LOVE EPHEMERA!!!

Anyway back to my page, I started with plain white card stock.  I used the Triangle Mask down both sides of my page with Pumice Stone Distress Ink, I then quickly grabbed another of my masks and used Crushed Shells glimmer mist to create the splat pattern, finally using Barn Door Distress Ink to colour the hearts, with black pen doodling as a highlight.

I then used my Big Shot to die cut 5 different paper/ card stock hexagons and played with them on the page until I was happy with the arrangement then attached them. I then made a film strip out of card stock as well as cutting one out from the patterned paper. I then added these to the paper cluster in the middle of the page.

I then grabbed from my stash a chipboard sheet of chevron arrows from WOW, and covered these in paper and card stock again, to create the sense of movement across the page. Layered up the page with elements from the journal sheet and the sticker sheet... Love these mini kits, enough paper for at least two pages.

The final touches were these Kraft people from Maya Road, they are meant to be a flag pin but they look like 2 girls holding hands and I thought this perfect to go with this photo of my girls, too cute I reckon.   I also added some MDF Polaroid frames again from Maya Road near the photo to compliment the photography theme.

My girls can take just plain gorgeous photo's (not biased at all)

Here is the photo I used... A bit adorable hey!!!

I hope you like this project and find some inspiration from the page, remember to leave a comment and become a follower of my Blog to be in the running for the Prize on my personal Blog as well as the Prize available on the Mad about Scrappin Blog...

I will be announcing the winner of my Blog Candy at 8pm on the 8th of April on my Blog and I will get Leanne from Mad about Scrappin to contact you as well.  If the prize is not claimed within 7 days then I will redraw it.
