I have discovered Art Journalling

WOW!!! I am being a good Blogger aren't I???

I have been exploring my artistic side for quite awhile now and I have journeyed into the land of art journalling. I have created my own journal from paper, chipboard and washi tape.... LURVE washi tape

Well here is some piccies of my finished journal waiting for me to fill it with loveliness....
I literally make this from a Manila folder, music paper, October Afternoon paper, glue, chipboard and washi tape....

A close up of my bottle cap, I have covered it in versamark ink then heat embossed it with distress embossing powder then created the centre. Love this effect....

Here is my opening page with my title, I plan to use this book for special memories of my girls, I have also altered a kraft envelope I had been hoarding. I want to be able to put in mementos in this book as well.

Here is a photo of the side of the Journal,  used chipboard in the spine to make it more sturdy, then covered it in washi tape

Here is a close up of how I joined my pages together with layers of washi tape (have I mentioned how much I love this stuff???)

Well I hope you like this little number I am very proud of it, please let me know what you think??

Of course all of the washi tape that I have used in this book was from D-Lish Scraps so make sure you rush over and buy some now!!

November Challenge for Mad about Scrappin

Hello my lovelies

Here is a quick page I completed for the latest challenge on Mad about Scrappin Facebook page, this month to be in the chance to pick up this paper pack

all you need to do is complete a Layout with atleast 3 Stamps on it, here is my sample;

I used large retro flower stamps to create my background and I then embossed them with distress embossing powder from Tim Holtz (love him). I then went digging in my paper stash and pulled out some old papers from American Craft and teamed them with ephemera from Pink Paislee 'Vintage Vogue' and I could not resist putting a page runner on it from Charms Creations.

So get creating and remember to upload your pages to Mad about Scrappin on Facebook
can not wait to see what you create.

Yumminess with D-Lish Scraps

Hi All

I have been a busy little bee at my desk the last couple of days, creating for D-Lish Scraps loving the products that are in store at the moment, they are so easy to use and add that extra something to the page.
The first page I have created is of my 'Baby's' 3rd Birthday back in March.

I still can not believe Olivia is 3 now.... She is growing too quickly. But on this page I was able to use a few gorgeous items from D-Lish,

Here I have used a pink Vintage Velvet flower, Pink Glass Micro Beads over the chipboard, a green Carved Resin Rose and finally I created a rolled ribbon rose from the Black Dot Fabric Tape.  To do this all I did was fold the tape in half length ways and then rolled the rose as per normal.

Here I have used one of the delightful cupcake Bottle Caps and one of the new Jumbo Word Tickets for my journalling.

I have used more of the fabric tape here to create my flag then to balance the page one of the new Petite Resin Roses.

The next page I created with Out of the Hat in mind the criteria this month was to use a doiley, negative space and a monochromatic colour scheme. I went with a Cream colour scheme as I had this gorgeous photo of Olivia from last Christmas. It is one of my personal favourites, even with the dummy.

Because of the colour scheme it is very hard to photograph but let me say that I am loving this page. This page suited D-Lish Scraps embellishments perfectly, all the stunning roses and bits and pieces.

This is the right hand side of the LO, I have used a 3cm White Rose as the centre and surrounded this with Mini White Roses and cream Forget Me Nots, to add to the fullness of the cluster I also poked in some Pearl Stamens, Mini Blossoms, Petite Resin Rose and at the top of the chipboard flourish I placed a Cabochon Resin Rose.

Here is the left hand side and I slightly changed the way I placed the flowers but you still get the same full effect.  On the side of the photo I added on of the new Resin Birds in white

you can also see how I used the stamens, mini blossoms and the petite resin rose better.  Well that is all for today, leave a comment and let me know what you think :D

Out of the Hat - June

Long time no see lovelies, hope you are all well.  Short and sweet today, here is my take on the latest Out of the Hat you needed to use Kraft as your base with bright colours, 6 buttons and a bird. Here it is

Ready for the Sun.

I have used the new range of paper's from Echo Park 'Splash', I can not take credit for the design of the LO, one of my fellow teachers at Paper Addiction Donna D'Ilario, came up with this for one me :D. I have also used some gorgeous embellishments from D-Lish Scraps I used some of the Journal it's, bottle caps and some raffle tickets.

I have been lucky enough to have been selected to be part of the new design team for D-Lish Scraps, my fellow designers are,

I am looking forward to creating some yumminess with the goodies available from this embellishment store. TFL

White with 1 April

Hiya All

We here in the White Household have been hit hard over the school holidays and Easter with a very unfriendly virus. So the last 2 weeks have been spent with sick kiddies and that means no creating :(
But I did manage to get 1 LO done in that time for me :D
This month the criteria for White with 1 is

White
+
Olive Green
+
Twine

How could I not give this a go, twine is one of my favourite stables, so here it is

This is a photo of my sister Jane when she was visiting the mother country England back in 1996, I thought it went with this criteria really well. I have used MME 'Lush', Imaginisce 'Out on a Whim' and various bits of fabric. I shouted myself a new Jenni Bowlin Stamp to create the Banner and used some of my 'Daily Junque' Ephemera pack as well. I created most of the flowers on this LO and used my new butterfly punch ( I got off one of my BFF'S for my Birthday)

This next LO is from a class I did at Paper Addiction at the start of the month, it was to kick off my series called "Get your ScrapBook on", I want to show everyone that you can create LO's in any style. I started with a freestyle LO, so everyone could get Arty. I started with a piece of Kraft and created this :D

Lot's of stamping, painting, glimmering and doodling on this. TFL

Scraphappy Kat's Friday Night 8th April 2011

Hello All

Here is my take on this week's Scraphappy Kat's sketch, I have used an older range of Sassafras Lass 'Count me In' as well as some lovely doily's from Tallulah Belle's and used some raffia string from the cheap shop.  Love how this has turned out, really glad I went ahead and did it this week, as this photo has been sitting on my desk for quite awhile now.

I used some crackle paint in the 4 corners and Glimmer misted the centre of the LO as well.  I used a TLC Crafts Flower as well and handcrafted some spiral flowers.

Kraft it Up

Here is my LO for Kraft it Up this month, you had to include this saying 'there is no greater gift than today' on your page and of course it needed to be on kraft.  Here is a photo of Daphne and Peter on the day she came home from hospital, I thought it really fitted the criteria....

As you can see I have used more of 'For the Record' from Echo Park, love the colour combos, and some lovely glimmer mists.

These photo's were taken in the backyard of our new house about a year ago. Olivia is my little ray of sunshine and she is so cheeky....

Another LO I have done this week is for Out of the Hat I have used the 'For the Record' range from Echo Park, another new favourite of mine..

This is a Photo taken of me by my great Uncle who lives in Rome and we were able to visit them back in the eighties, forgive the stripy turtleneck and lovely haircut, my mother thought this was high fashion LOL....

Make and Take Monday at Paper Addiction

I have been busy this week, creating an item for a make and take on Monday 7th March at Paper Addiction, I was able to utilise some lovely papers from We R Memory Keepers and an Acrylic Frame from Making Memories to create an embellishment which could be used on a card or a LO. I have examples of how this could be used.
The Card

The Layout

and a close up of the frame on the LO.

If you are free on Monday, come on down to Paper Addiction at Lawnton between 10am - 4pm and while stocks last, I will be able to show you how to create this little number, and you could pick up the matching papers to create a cute card or Layout.

My Class Kit at Mad About Scrappin for March

Hiya All

I was talking about my 'Circa 1934' kit for Leanne at Mad about Scrappin last post and she has released it so I can now share with you.  My take on these gorgeous papers....

Love

This is a picture of my maternal grandmother and grandfather at 'Cloudland' in Brisbane pre WWII, Athena or Athie and Alexander known as Sandy. I handmade the ribbon flower and created a button heart which I think adds to these gorgeous papers.

ANZAC

Here is my grandfather in Egypt during WWII, I absolutely love this photo, I have several more taken around the region as well during his 'war years'. I created a box flower and used lots of ephemera on this page.

This Old House

This is a photo of the 'war home' that my grandfather had built when he came back from the war, this was in Camp Hill and I spent 6 years there myself after my grandmother died back in the 80's. We moved up from Sydney to look after my grandfather, Lot's of memories here, :D

Well hope you all like my little trip down memory lane, I love these papers from Cosmo Cricket and really want to get my hands on some more....

Vintage - White with 1

Hello All

I have gone on a vintage twist this month, I have completed a 3 page kit for Leanne at Mad about Scrappin featuring Cosmo Cricket's 'Circa 1934' and these ended up very vintage.  I have continued this theme with the White with 1, the criteria was white and brown with something that is vintage.

I found this picture of my Grandmother in my stash, and thought it would be perfect for this submission. I also added vintage pen nib, doily, vintage music paper and vintage dress pattern paper flowers.  I used Bella, 7 gypsies and kaisercraft papers, my 2 angels vintage clock pin is in there as well. Hope you like :D

Out of the Hat

Hi All

Hope you are all well, I have had a rather trying week with my youngest, 3 weeks until she is 3 and Olivia, is having revival of her terrible 2's...Grrr Makes it hard to scrap but I did find time to whip this little number.

The criteria this month for Out of the Hat was masking and misting, use a cloud and a tree.  I masked with Smooch Spritz a grassy area in the bottom right hand side, used a tree from an A2Z Scraplet and made my own clouds....

Febuary Challenge for Mad about Scrappin

My MOJO has taken a holiday in the last 10 days or so... Started many a LO but they have all ended up in the UFO pile. Really need to work on that. But I have managed to complete this month's challenge at Mad about Scrappin it was to create a negative space LO...It was going to be simple but ended up being over the top as per usual.

Lot's of glimmermist, punches, glue, Ink and cardboard, if you can't tell there is some Ti's the season papers in there too.  ooooh my new favourite Martha Stewart Microbeads are on here too, lurve them and the best thing is that Leanne has these in store, do yourself a favour and get some.
